The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has examined the state of the German AI landscape in a study. The report highlights the research landscape, computing capacity and sustainability as Germany's strengths. The OECD also sees strengths in prudent regulation and targeted government funding with a view to a human-centered digital transformation and the development of AI skills among employees and their interest groups. However, the report also emphasizes that the German AI strategy must be adapted to current geopolitical and economic challenges. There is potential for optimization, particularly in access to data and the development of a better data center infrastructure. The report also criticizes the confusing funding, the lack of vision and economic hesitation, especially among SMEs. "The OECD report confirms what we have been calling for for a long time: there is a need for better coordination on the part of the federal government and a leadership role for the Federal Chancellery," explained Jörg Bienert, Chairman of the Board of the Federal AI Association.
