In a statement published on May 24, BITMi called on the German government to reject the current version of the European Cyber Resilience Act in Brussels and to push for more pragmatism and proportionality in the law. This was also reported by the Tagesspiegel in its "Background Cybersecurity" on Thursday. In its statement, BITMi specifically calls for the regulation to be limited to software that uses an internet connection. BITMi President Dr. Oliver Grün explained that the CRA is an example of excessive and undifferentiated regulation that is putting obstacles in the way of small and medium-sized companies in particular, including through disproportionateness in the form of extensive documentation requirements. The vote in the EU Council of Ministers is still pending.
